Bass Grooves by Jon Liebman

What's bass grooves Who?

Jon Liebman is the author of education is very low compared to other books, the different styles of bass guitar. His latest book - subtitled "The Ultimate Collection" - is a collection of riffs, licks and grooves in various styles.
The slots are collected in different sub-styles. These styles are:

(I) Blues
(Ii) Jazz
(III) Rock
(Iv) Funk / R & B
(V) Reggae
(I) Land
(VII)Latin
(Viii) other channels (Gospel, Hip Hop, Disco, etc.)

The author is with you a source book of licks and grooves in various styles that you can meet and play bass add your 'idea' of the book. These are practices that licks you started working life situations - from jams, bands and groups of original work.

How do I submit?

Bass Grooves is 96 pages and published by Hal Leonard. Hal Leonard have a relatively high productionThe rules, then the pressure is very clear and easily readable. All musical examples are given in tab notation and downs.
In addition, there is a CD that accompanies the book sound Licks, Licks has all the bass on the recorded, so you feel like. The bass is panned from one canal, making it very easy for your stereo pan and then play with the battery and support chords (guitar).

Criteria for the production of CD are actuallygood - the CD sounds good, and the separation of instruments is precise, so that the CD really works as something that comes with practice.

What topics are covered?

The various types of bass grooves are covered have been summarized briefly. Most types of music are here - blankets, even if only briefly.

How to beat this book

There are some areas that would be an exceptionally good return in my opinion.

First - and a great discomfortby me - the book has a hard binding. This means that is not flat on your music. I do not know why the publishers do not publish books that are linked format meant for working bass players spiral - or give us the opportunity to have that, even if it costs. If you have a book with this type of bond that much damage at the end of the spine and the book fell apart. I have some books in my library, where this has happened - and still have my copy of Standing In The Shadows OfMotown (which is a spiral) and I had almost 20 years still in very good condition.

The second area of the book could be improved in some guides for beginners. Most beginners do not know how these grooves and causes them to different keys. Or how to adapt to different chord progressions.
Or different music styles. Detailed instructions on how to do this would be an excellent feature.

The third area in which the book could be improved, withCD. Some of the channels is too fast for beginners to play together. To say the supply base three different levels of speed, the ball would have made much more useful for many beginners.

Review Summary

Although I may be some areas where this book would be improved, I must be realistic and probably the first area and pointed out that third point is likely to increase significantly the costs and profit margins by reducing Mentioned. So it is littleProbability is always at the end of the day is the company that sets the rules for such decisions.

This book is very good, but - and I recommend it. Working through each channel to give you a vocabulary of ideas to really help you develop your game. Also, I would recommend that read music, if you do not - these examples in all keys are Provided, I know that learning to read well, the practice. You can not get enough "good stuff" out of sightto read. If you only buy the book you get the cost.

I would rate this book four stars and a half. (Half-star deduction for this is the link - I hate music firmly bound books!). This is a good addition to the library of anyone who wants to learn to play bass.
